What I was getting at was that in a game where people identify with their clans to the degree that they do in L5R (and they do, or they wouldn't rag on Spider so much), it'd be nice if they had the wherewithal to realize that there are people playing the game running those spider decks on the other side of the table. It may sound silly, but
a lot of people who have been with the game a while tend to conflate the story side of spider with the playerbase (probably not intentionally), and the way it's expressed is often brusque at best. I brought this up just because seeing a thread that is essentially "haha I'm so glad spider are losers" was basically the straw that broke the camel's back. I apologize that I decided to unload here, but you have no idea how disheartening it is when multiple people dump on you for doing good with your clan one arc, then faux-pity you (see that kyuden mantis post) when you're doing bad the next arc.
I guess the best way I can put it would be that if the tables were turned, I would find a similar thread on the spider boards in equally bad taste.
Also, I realize you have to have thick skin to a certain degree to play a competitive game, but I'm pretty sure someone just combo-

+likened sympathizing with spider to being a child molester apologist, so you'll have to forgive me if I'm a little bit flabbergasted
