TSE Carpenter Castle Builders Utd. v3.0

Postby HidaHayabusa » Fri Aug 03, 2012 6:05 pm

Here's the list I've been playing with lately and enjoy a lot. Amazing against blitz, amazing against the ninja trend, able to battle against any military. Haven't tested against honor (since there is non around), but I did kept Scorn the Weak for them in here. Against dishonor, there is some re-honoring and the box gain to keep you in the game for your Siege volleys and tacticians to do their job.

Carpenter Castle
BKexp (??)
BH

3 Kaiu Fumiko
3 Kaiu Tojikana
3 Kaiu Esumi
3 Kaiu Nakano
3 Hiruma Nikaru
1 Hida Kisada
1 Hida Osote
1 Kaiu Iemasa
1 Hida Fubatsu
1 Kaiu Onizuka

2 Merchant Atoll
2 Colonial Harbor
3 Staging Grounds
3 Iron Mine
2 Indomitable Home
1 Chugo Seido
1 Traveling Peddler

3 Fortifications

2 Natural Aviary
1 Ryoshun's Guidance
1 Imperial Gift
-----------------------
3 Tactical Assault
2 Control the Board
3 Yojimbo's Duty
2 Broken Alliance
2 Sundering Strike
3 Siege Volley
3 Precision
3 Nakanu Technique
3 Scorn the Weak
2 Sneak Attack
2 Duty of the Crab
1 A Game of Dice
1 Creating Order
2 Heart of Darkness

3 Clearing Crew (Could become Satoshi's Dual Warfans)
1 Ancestral Armor of the Qamar
1 Blade of Champions

1 Ring of Earth
1 Ring of Water
1 Ring of Fire
1 Serenity in Air

So, Clearing Crew is ok, but I think the awkward 3g of Satoshi's is more appropriate for the deck. It keeps your fate moving and gives a direct force boost and +1C. Clearing is performing quite well also, but Nikaru can't attach it so it's a bit of a drawback.

My biggest concern is BKexp over BK normal. 20 personalities are not justyfying BKexp, but then again you need to dig twice for the 6g holdings early and for those Siege Volleys during turns 3-5. Still need testing, although the results are quite random. Once I like BKexp, once I like BK. Luck of the day, I guess.

I've been putting this against all kind of decks and it's not too bad. Meaning...I expected some worse matchups with the new power decks like KL, but it's not awful and definitely winnable. The rest of the decks are OK.

Natural Aviary rocks, and I would play 3 if I could.

Ideas, suggestions, comments are welcome!

Hey Panos,

How have your Dishonour match-ups typically gone? With my movement jankies, I find Dishonour is very close to an auto win for me (I still can't make any mistakes in game play, but so long as I don't, I'm going to win). Also, I really count the Fortifications as my "Region" slot, so to me, this feels like 5 regions in the deck. Do you often have issues with poor starts, or poor mid game flips? (I guess this is probably the source of your BK vs BKxp debate actually) With only 4 645 holdings, have you thought of running Peace to fish for one if you need it? I also like Peace for the Dyn shuffle if you've BK'd a pile of personalities to your deck bottom. With 3 Fumikos, do you still feel a need for 3 Precisions? Are you running into that much RA meta?

I guess it's a typical problem of CC that needs to run 3 fortifications. However it feels OK to have Aviary and Fortifications, since they do help my game. Anyway, you got it right. I need to be very careful on what I throw away and what I keep in provinces. In some games, I face the dreaded no-personality flip which is bad...I guess you can't do that much. You win some, you lose some with the choice of BKexp.

If you go for BK basic, you feel like you are doing something bad when you use it twice on the first turns (statistically I use it twice on the first turn in a good number of games).

Dishonor is not as bad as I thought it would be, but it's certainly not an auto win. The random honor gains keep me in the game for some time, and I find it easier to bust provinces with tacticians and Siege volley.

Precisions are there for the many ranged attacks that I can throw (box, Esumi, Siege Volley) and for a kill action due to Scorn/Control the board. Also it has saved my 5f personalities and I got attached to it. Statistically, I use it on my people that didn't get a follower to draw fire from some printed RAs and save them.

Im ready to try this one as Honor run military switch... just added 3 wall of honor instead of nakanu techniques and 1 blighted region instead of 1 fortification, will tell you results soon....

With honor runners being 100% absent from the current environment, probably a switch build will be as efficient if not more efficient than the direct approach.

Couple of thoughts.

How would you feel about cutting one fortification to get down to 40?

Also, cutting the Clearing Crew/War Fan for 2 Gold and Steel and a third Duty?

I have actually cut Scorn the weak for Gold and Steel. Going down to 40 can happen with 1 less fortification. Give it a try.

I have been twiddling around with a ring tricks crab tician, like what you got working here. I have Rokku in mine, i like his ability and he is still a tactician and only 6 gold. How do you like Precision? I want to like it but it violates my "give me a card that is always good" rule...

In a deck with potentially 5F people with no attachments, many ranged attacks and Fumiko to boost the RA3 to RA5 (unperformed), seems like Precision is hardly a dead card.

Rokku is not a personality I like outside of KHexp. Moving in without protection and 4F is just going to get him killed faster.

I didn't say it's a dead card, but it's not good all the time...it hinges on a ranged attack, and if you don't need it cause you already have 4 or 5 going out its overkill...i dont know from a play side honestly..but a good friend of mine always reminds me that its not a dead card but tis not always good either so give me a card that is good all the time not just when i am making /taking RA
