i cant seem to have success in winning against tacagon decks. any advice?

at this point i'm just gonna post my testing results as best as i can remember them.

playing my scouts tonight i played lion tact smoked'em: let him take one because i had 2 esumi after turn 2 and a no hiding place in hand so i swing with naked esumis to take out his shinden shorai he declares no defense i shoot open tact force pumpy guy to make my range attacks a little easier he only has kobi and ayumu now. i buy 2 dudes and holding. he buys dudes and doesn't swing. i shinden shorai out someone might have been the mantis naval scout with ranged 3+2 for recon i swing for two. he lets me through. i buy some dudes. he buys a dude. i shinden shorai a jahan. and swing i slaughter his army with ranged attacks.

next i played carpenter castle straight tactical superiority. the guy playing this decided to try it after seeing my deck a few weeks ago and finding it difficult to play against even though he is way better at this game than i am. (palmer) his province strength keeps me at bay as do his guys with lots of force and his retribution hurt too. i did end up having one hilarious play i went to ranged 4+1shishido a guy he chugo seido's to a 9f kisada i play sniping he reacts with kisada to kill a different spud. i just didn't play that game well at all.

Next i played crane dueling honor... this deck is by far the most interactive and agressive honor deck i've seen in a while. i shutter to think of the poor dishonor decks that play against it. this was a bad game i relied to heavily on sneak attack and he had the entrenched then i managed to not see any of my unbow stuff so he crushed my army and i scooped. we played again after much better game but he ended up winning again he had a bad start aside from ebisu's and willing spirits so i waited a turn and bought dudes then he only flipped one guy so i waited another turn which was a mistake i ended up having to swing for 3 and missing his 10 provinces strength by like 2 force.i forgot about my infantry dojos... i'm really bad at taking these kinds of decks on. it also didn't help that i wasn't sure what to expect besides duels and magistrate tricks.

lastly i finally took on unicorn blitz. he had a great gold start silk and stables but next turn flipped 3 gold and ronin actor guy. i bought two esumis... who'd have known in a scout deck the MVP is esumi... seriously dude is best non-unique ever. we need to experience him. anyway he buys dudes i attach a follower to esumi and swing he let's me through. i buy dudes. he takes two from me. buys dudes. i attach another follower to the other esumi and swing with them both leaving me with shishido and chokichi unbowed he let's me through. i buy mantis naval shooty scout. and an archery range. his turn i yojimbo's an esumi (the follower was vigilant riders btw) i defend mantis naval shooty scout and esumi at one and shishido and chokichi at the other province he wisely swings at shishido. no sneak i kill his tairu that had been brother's with chokichi's RA. he sends chokichi home. i seige volley killing another guy. i can't remember if he sent me hone this time or not. there might have been another battle action i took but he decided to send shishido home... though he took the province i won the war of attrition. i swung with just 2 guys into one of his provinces again and he let me go through. so for the last battle i will be short mantis shooty scout and 1 esumi. I had also managed to play it clever and not bow my box as i didn't see a colonial this game. he loads up and swings i start eating his army with ranged attacks he is down to 2 guys has 13 force and i have 16 he control's board and knocks away 4 force. i brawl his consideration 8 force monster he stolen merchs (copied heavy infantry dojo( his monster assuming 10 force is enough to put him outta RA range. i disrupting it. and win.

i have to say that no hiding place should always be at 3x in both carpenter and scouts. it doesn't matter what you're playing either. singh remanents are annoying when you don't see chokichi and only 1 strat strike. i need to put in more movement cards into my deck or just increase the know no fears to 3. i will post this deck next week after i have played the new and improved version which sports 25 guys mostly crab in dynasty side. i should look for a way to add in ageless shrine into this deck.

anybody suggest a meta for crane scouts? the qalyar first turn then follower on 2nd + province is just irritating. after that they just roll on me. suggestions pls?

Hidden defenses- great against everyone but berserkers for first turn defense, and adds maneuverability against super cav

Umiko has +1F for each Sake card in play.
A true Crab is never sober.

I just trade provinces with them, using Ret and movement to even things out. You just have to expect to lose 1-2 early unless you have an amazing hand.

So, how are our match ups vs other scouts?

I realized the other day that since the beginning of EE i haven't really had many (or any) encounters with scouts, but this might soon change... so, what are your experiences on these match ups?

Crane scouts have the super cavalry off the box which is quite punishing, they recon 2 provinces and can assign their scouts after cavalry manouevers. They will probably take out some of your provinces and they go first, they seem to be weaker than crab scouts in a straight up gun fight if you can manage to engage them, hidden defenses can help get the drop on them, with several recruitment officers in reaction with your own scout followers, they suddenly feel stupid for assigning just 2 people to bust the province.

Edit: Other scouts which are not crab nor crane have very little game right now, I would not be worried.

For EoW,

How do you plan on handling the following:

Too Close to Home + Two Fronts
3F 1C Barswanian - 3HR - 1GC - 2PH
Crab Clan * Loyal * Lorekeeper * Jade Hand
When Barswanian comes into play he forgets what he's doing, remove him from the game.
If Barswanian is removed from the game, place him in one of the opponent's provinces face-up. He got lost! If there is another card in the province, discard Barswanian: he forgot what he was doing again.
If Barswanian is in the discard pile, place him on the top of his owner's dynasty deck.

Simplest solution: Stop the first province grab and take it from them via retribution or things like Weak Poison/Ring of Earth.

Crab Scouts has it rougher due to lower overall force. and going second.

Carpenter if it gets PS boosts might withstand the first shot, or you can just retribution to counter.

Same with Berserker.

Yasuki has to fight off the early province with Weak/Daiki/Sendhome/etc. At that point, Two Fronts might matter less.
