I think that was explained somewhere on these forums.

Something to the effect of he took the Kuni name so that there would be no way for someone to interfere with Kisada's Championship, as he's the sole Hida.

If you meant just being a straight up Shugenja, maybe he just learned how to waggle his fingers as a kid.

This made me check the earlier thread and find shawn's answer, which is cool but the poor ignored hida shugenja school is poor and ignored

Kenny, there isn't a Hida Shugenja school. Any Crab who can speak to the kami get trained in the Kuni Shugenja school.

I find it somewhat funny how on the AEG boards, there's a ton of Spider players going 'BRING IT!' and going on about how this might violate the deal between Daigotsu and the Failmpress. Great Clans do this sort of thing all the time, and if they can't bloody well hack the politics, then they shouldn't have become a Great Clan in the first place.

Actually... There is a hida shugenja school at least I read that somewhere in one of the numerous fluff books out there.
