I was guessing that'd be hand-waved, but how do you compensate for night-time guard duty vs day-time? It leaves some players segregated from others a little bit, but its not like the Oni are going to wait for dawn to attack. There's a bit of history of Shiro Hiruma fighting thoughout the night after all.

Since (most) people can't rest in the Shadowlands anyways, it shouldn't be a problem if they stay awake to watch over things at night. They're not resting anyways.

Probably easiest just to treat it as if it were a finger a jade (ie, one rank).

Though it is easiest to treat it as a finger of jade, I think it is more appropriate to think of it as something a bit cooler. The Kuni have blessed the jade to be more resilient, and this description is shown in every witch hunter description I can think of. The blessed pendant should [and it is fair and not overpowered to say] be somewhere between a finger of jade and an incorruptible finger of jade.

Mechanically all I can think of is either treating it as something profoundly tougher than a single piece (instead of 10 points of protection, try 50 or even more…and yes this is something a real witch hunter has mechanically earned) or apply a spell that prevents taint and make that run out first, then make the jade work as a normal finger.

We probably won't be doing that.
