Ahh, I've never played a witch hunter, and am not familiar with the mechanic. Makes since though. I still feel the logic is sound. Regardless, the GM had spoken so I'm happy with that.

Incorruptible jade though, shouldn't be uber. It should be incorruptible. If popcorn oni ate you, it should have an unpleasant passing of jade and an untainted corpse. Though I believe the GM already has posted rules on incorruptible jade, and whatever those rule are I am also happy with.

Only issue with that is, I'm not sure if there are any actual documented cannon-type sources of incorruptible jade floating around during this time period, unless someone outside of cannon brought it with them directly from Yomi.

Something that I AM curious about needing to purchase is Jade. For any Crab character I think a finger of jade should be included in their starting gear. Granted the 4th ed start pack doesn’t show this, but this rule is typically era dependent and after a look through the rulebook I couldn’t find the alternate rules.

You're given enough jade to get you through the Shadowlands during pre-game and up to the castle proper, which means that we don't have to track any sort of Taint acquisition during pre-game. Beyond that, you're on your own.

Wait, so everyone gets 3 fingers of Jade for free to start with? Does it say that somewhere on the Shiro Hiruma page? It's something to note if we've got food and some Jade sorted already for character creation so money can be spent on other things.

HEY Usharo, can we use stuff found in the Exotic arms guide? Though a lot of the stuff there may be out of date mechanically there’s still a ton of neat options that are still logically sound.

For example, if Barswanian does his pragmatist, a neat toy in Exotic is a Shobo (basically a brass knuckle), that adds extra dice roll to all unarmed damage. Excellent for that oni he will tackle.

There are also some numarani rules which are exceptionally prudent for the campaign, like Cleansing Fire, basically shugenja bandaid that’s burns you (and causes minor wounds), but prevents the wound from getting taint (thus potentially saving our jade supplies after the initial use). Also there’s Howlers, which are basically a screaming spell in a container, which can be used for anyone on lookout.

I’m interpreting “You're given enough jade to get you through the Shadowlands during pre-game and up to the castle proper” as meaning once we get to the castle, the jade you have been given by the Crab is considered depleted.

No, as it's not on our list of allowed books (nor is it even intended for the current edition).

We're only using 4E core, Enemies of the Empire, Great Clans, and Emerald Empire.
