AEG is pleased to announce that the third Winter Court play-by-forum event will run from late 2012 through early 2013, based on the contemporary storyline and set in the Second City. This will be generally similar in conduct to the two previous Winter Court events, but will also incorporate substantial revisions and changes based on what we've learned from those two preceding events. Further details, including deadlines for submissions of player applications will be forthcoming shortly. Those who wish to apply as Game Masters must complete the GM application and return it to wintercourt@alderac.com by July 1, 2012.
PbP L5R RPGers rejoice! AEG is sponsoring Winter Court again this year!
For those of you who are unfamiliar, it is an official play-by-post event run in a subsection of the AEG forums. The first one took place in Kyuden Otomo during the Khan's March; some players were handed established characters and others brought in their own homebrewed characters. When the game was finished, certain parts made canon, and a few of the homebrew characters became canonical in the setting! The second game had more freedom and took place during the Imperial Wedding in Kyuden Gotei. While the events were not made canon this time around, a bunch of homebrewed characters were made canon in a fiction depicting the wedding.
As someone who played in the previous two games and had a great time, I highly recommend applying for this one when applications go live. I had a blast, and I got to meet a ton of RPGers that I never would have met otherwise. Of course, those games had all the typical pbp shenanigans, but if you don't take the game too seriously that stuff doesn't affect your fun. In any case, I'm looking forward to this one!
