I am a fan of Giger and surrealism in general and it's good he is working on the film that freaked me out for years.

This looks potentially awesome, sort of like Event Horizon meets Alien. Given Event Horizon is one of my favorite movies for sheer 'wtf?!', that makes me very happy. I liked later Alien movies, mind, but the first one was the best for horror-ness.

*is excited*

If it's good, that'll make two good horror movies in one year! I can't remember the last time that happened.

Well scott already said there would be no xenomorph so that's one in favour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUxdAWrs ... ure=relmfu that is some damned good foreshadowing.

It is absolutely brilliant that scott was the only one to even think of the "space jockey" narrative.

I've always liked Ridley Scott's movies (well, with the exception of Thelma & Louise) and it's nice to see him going back to the Weyland-Yutaniverse.
I've always wanted to see the hisroty of the corp, pre-Xenomorph. Looking forward to it.

The "Company", as it's called in the Alien movies, is formally the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
Peter Wayland (played by Guy Pearce from The King's Speech) is the founder of that corporation, and this movie is a sort of prequel to those.
While it doesn't deal directly with the xenomorphs, it sort of leads in to the original Alien movie.

Yeah they are the generic backers of the first expedition and creators of the androids in the movies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtBhAhlO4uw Although as per usual Priscilla queen of the desert makes it hard for me to watch guy pearce without superimposing drag outfits over him.

Well, if Hugo Weaving can still be menacing after that... or if To Wong Foo didn't make you do the same to Wesley Snipes... :)
I can't help but think of the weasel Edward from The King's Speech when I see Guy Pearce, and I think it will make him a more convincing Peter Wayland.
